nice price deal !!! excellent house groover by dan mckie a cool male vocal loop and this nice 80s sounding synth riff make this a real peaktime house affair flip over for a great disco flavoured remix by rocco mundo & onno
originally hailing from halifax, nova scotia, canada, jon dacey a.k.a. dubious began playing in scuzzy lo-fi noise punk bands at age seventeen. an obsession with 4-track cassette recording spawning his initial productions. now residing in toronto, ontario, canada, dubious interests in crazed dance music fuel his dj sets and productions alike. playing everything from drums, guitar, bass and keys, his take on left field disco house production is distinctly his own. dubiouss musical appetites bounce from wild cosmic rock to blazing acid house, he has few boundaries, yet he remains focused on the funk first and foremost.in addition to his debut on bear funk gold he has also produced for deep freeze, truffle, loop: recordings and on prize (the label he founded). theres nothing dubious about this fellas music
german-techno dream team oliver koletzki and florian meindl with a new ep on their collective label flash recordings. >kolibri< is a deeply grooving piece of dreamy minimal electro with melodic and mesmerizing stabs and many trippy effects. on the b-side the humorous title >grandmothers flash< is sure to set the dance floor on fire with its fidgety loop, a typically raving synthie and a murderously deep sub bass. koletzki and meindl stay amused and allow themselves a joke towards the end of the track referencing the 2005 hit mückenschwarm. also on the flip, florian meindl’s >paris< has a thriving organic bassline, some great arpeggios, freaked out melodies and a very strong loop with many hi-hats. supported by chloe, karotte and oxia
excellent electrofunker with a cool male vocal sample and this well known disco funk loop includes mixes by thomas rich, dbns and sweno n not to be missed
detroit s new >soundshift< imprint makes a stunning debut with this intoxicating two-tracker. opening up is the soultek remix of billy dalessandro s smashing >don t sleep< release (which was found in the many sets of dan bell, ame, annie mac & pete tong last month) this mix is nothing short of brilliant and will certainly capture the hearts and sets of all those mathew jonson or loco dice fans out there. it has a subtlety that really creeps up on you and before you know it you re tapping your feet and zoning out listening to the intricacies of the music. truly minimal, there are loads of space within the track which is somewhat similar to the original but still a world apart, particularly in the fantastically eerie synth programming. in the forefront of the song is the shimmering and haunting vocal loop, >don t sleep< which has an almost hypnotic effect. (think richie hawtin in closer) the melody of the title is a delicate affair which sips cocktails in the company of some nicely chosen whirring and echoing noises. the build is effected so subtly it verges on melancholy but halfway through a rumbling bassline, appregiated melody and backbeat hi-hat pattern announce a funkier escalation!!
montreal-based duo luci strikes with a great new single on titbit music, dwarfzilla starts the ep with a luscious kick loop followed by quirky and trippy synthscapes, next is fantex that continues their sophisticated sound architecture built on 4-4 rhythms with scuttling percussive bleeps and subliminal vocal samples. on the flipside load >*<, 8.1 slashes ipnotic bass lines mixed with sinister synth line and spacey feelings, followed up by a brilliant remix from our supervillain quiroga... support from mike shannon, karotte ...
a smokin hot ep that starts with >believe it< with a funky ass bassline, chopped vocal samples and wickedkey stabs. on the flip we have >half steppin< a tougher groove with some nice guitar licks. dope! the last track >hustler< features some sick vocal snippets and a bassline that is sure to flex those subwoofers! each track is accompanied with it s own dj tool, how bout that
this is the 4th release with man-to-man on q-records . the title >chord of love< says a lot of the track. it is a very nice melodic chord that is looped-up and gives you an extremely nice melody to catch. the original mix is a funky, house-ey slamming mix and is already in the loop with djs like bryan cox. tim track, know from his work on abyss and sway is doing a more futuristic session on his remix, best described as techno meets tech-house. on the full b-side, and there is a reason for that, you will find the pierre j remix
african people is a shivering pearl of maxmimum electric minimalism guided by those bleeps & blurps we love so much about trentemoller! the track is basicly driven by a twisted noisy heavily modulated drum loop. jokke ilsoe strips the track down to it s bones & brings in modern electronic deepness combined with some bass action from below
repress !! the man behind the fantastic, collectible mojuba imprint and producer of some in-demand releases on styrax don williams is behind another high-class project: on the a.r.t less imprint he showcases more his detroit side and gets right down to business with a fantastic one-sider that holds a cracking peak-time cut reminiscent of maurizio s legendary >domina< track, a beautiful melodious ambient cut ( pressed inside out! ) and plus a locked-groove.
>the rhytm composer< is a well worked track with a lot of surprieces. old school electro sounds blended with analogue elements. >hooked on a g-string< has been played live a lot during the last few weeks, and has always been the park point of mikaels live sets. a great shuffley track with a strong moog loop that change its caracter throughout the song...
after 4 wicked releases with impressive sales it is time for hertz to enter on his own label. the a-side is nothing else than a funky techno hit. you will recognize the old 70s bass-sample, mostly known from s-express in the 80s. with a full on arrangement and a great break, this is a guarantied anthem. on the flip you will find a massive tune, with a fat driving loop working in 130 bpm !!
dalessandro & expander delivers a track, which a hypnotic acid loop leads us into a passionate anthem that makes you want to reach the sky. midimiliz, aso known as extrawelt, comes with a uplitfting techno track, filled with their ever evolving basslines and analog synths !!
stephan laubner aha stl (something records) is known from perlon 13 and perlon 36 and now its time for more and with >the early tracks< he not only delivers 4 tracks, but also 2 lockgrooves.
real life testing reveals it all, therefore we have nothing to add to serafin s comment about the a side: >i have been playing this in virtually every set for the past couple of weeks, and the reaction of the crowds is simply amazing. this performs extremely well in a club setting, it sounds perfect (and loud!) on every system and people are responding to it instantly. i often extend this with the loop machine to well over 10 minutes, with an absolutely devastating effect. this is a bomb, trust me on this one!< on the flip switzerland s premier dirt funker agnès delivers one of his nasty treatments. the sthlm audio head pulls all the stops on this one: bass action from below underground, weird noises and nicely shuffled hihats compose a charming and warm piece of music, carrying a strange and deep atmosphere!
4 unreleased remixes: daniel wang >24 to vector z< morgan geist s commuter mix, owusu & hannibal >delirium - morgan geist unreleased dub< reflection >cube loop< morgan geist s modest science mix, cim >typical< morgan geist remix !
2000 classic outstanding 2 tracker here on versatile a side is a deep summery effort built around a smoking string loop and over on the flip you kind of get an uptempo 4/4 number with a hip hop flavour and some well wicked sub bass going on
